Earlier in this series we discussed Paratherm's 2011 article in Chemical Engineering about using production symptoms, and chemical analysis of the hot oil's condition, to pinpoint and correct process problems.

More recently, in early 2013, Paratherm had another trade-journal article published, this time about applications of heat transfer fluids in the gas industry.

High temperature hot oils are used in gas processing in a variety of stages. Most importantly, they provide precise, uniform heating and temperature control in the amine sweetening process, which is the stage in the purification of natural gas where the odorous sulfur is removed, which makes the resulting product purer, more consistent, and less noxious.

The article, by Paratherm sales engineer Ryan Ritz, appeared in Hydrocarbon Engineering Magazine. While it may not have any specific bearing on your own industry or process, we think you may find it an interesting overview of a process, and an industry, which are both key elements in the current business booms in energy and petrochemicals, and the downstream industries their output nurtures.
